Plucky Entrepreneur Sahil Lavingia Dumps Pinterest in Favor of Payment Startup
Sahil Lavingia left Pinterest last summer. What is Pinterest you might be asking if you just got back from a Mars Mission? It’s the hottest “startup” out there right now, but no one knows for how long due to copyright infringement threats looming on the horizon. The site caters to a female demographic. It’s the place to post or “pin” pictures of the things you want for your wedding or Valentine’s Day. Very girlie. But I digress.
Sahil Lavingia left the company to start a new payment system at gumroad.com. It’s another micro-payment system but with an interesting twist stemming from the fact that’s very easy to set up and use. Here’s the gumroad FAQ page as proof.
What makes the story interesting is that to promote the site he’s writing and selling a book about how he’s building it. One chapter is published at the end of each month describing what he did during the previous thirty days. You can get the first chapter for free.
We wish Sahil the best of luck and will monitor his progress.
